NextGEN

NextGEN is presented to over 1500 Indigenous and non-Indigenous students from schools around Manitoba and Western Ontario. A youth empowerment event, NextGEN is a celebration of invited speakers and musical performances to inspire and empower our next generation of leaders in Manitoba. This full-production component offers a multi-faceted agenda including dancing, singing, social media influencers, and teachings to lift up our young people. A monumental and dynamic event, youth won't want to miss this opportunity to come together in a day just for them.

From the very beginning, the gathering emphasizes the importance of Indigenous cultural teachings as a guide for personal and collective development. Central to the event was the theme rooted in the Medicine Wheel, a sacred symbol that represents balance, healing, and interconnectedness. The Medicine Wheel’s teachings underscore the importance of harmony within oneself, within relationships and communities, and with the land. This philosophy informed the event’s design, ensuring that every aspect— from presentations to performances—reflected these values and encourages participants to embrace them in their own lives.

Throughout the day, attendees engage with a variety of speakers, workshops, and performances that reinforced the principles of the Medicine Wheel. The speakers share personal stories, lessons, and strategies for navigating challenges, building confidence, and cultivating resilience. Performances by youth artists highlight creativity, cultural pride, and the power of expression as a form of empowerment. The entire environment is carefully curated to foster connection, inspiration, and a sense of belonging, creating a space where young people could see themselves reflected, supported, and celebrated.
