Red Carpet – Friday, November 7, 2008
For thousands of years Aboriginal People distinguish those, who through achievements and accomplishments honour aboriginal tradition, as people who ‘Walk the Red Road’ or ‘Walk the Red Path.’
These individuals are recognized for their gifts, contributions, successes and accomplishments by their family and community. On a spiritual level, to walk the ‘Red Road’ is to respect Mother Earth by treading softly, with pride and care for her as well as all her inhabitants.
In the world of music, art and entertainment a similar legacy exists, known as the ‘Red Carpet.’ The Red Carpet accompanies many prestigious events and award shows and allows the world to share in the accomplishments of those who are proficient in their fields. In keeping with this tradition the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards will highlight nominees, celebrities, promoters, sponsors/supporters and entertainment industry leaders as they walk the ‘Red Road.’
People of all nations are invited to come out and join the celebration, watch your favourite nominee or celebrity as they stroll down the Red Carpet preceding the 3rd annual Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards on November 7, 2008 at the MTS Centre. You won’t want to miss it!
